Achieve Australia seek Behaviour Support Coordinator in Eastwood
Achieve Australia is seeking a Behaviour Support Coordinator in Eastwood. Reporting to the Psychologist, you will provide specialist support services and behavioural management strategies to ensure our clients are adequately supported. You will identify and assess mental health issues and behavioural needs of our clients and ensure strategies and plans are being effectively implemented.
The key responsibilities for this position include:- Provide behaviour support services such as advice, specialist intervention plans and providing training and support to staff, clients and families
- Provide consistent behavioural management strategies and least restrictive behaviour support strategies
- Identify existing mental health issues, recommend and track appropriate internal and external referrals
- Assess the behavioural needs of services users in line with Achieve Australia policies and procedures
The key skills required for this role include:
- Tertiary qualifications in the Social or Behavioural Sciences, Special Education or equivalent discipline
- Minimum three (3) years experience in positive behaviour programming with people with intellectual disability, brain injury and/or learning difficulties
- Familiarity with Adult Learning Principles
- Knowledge of issues around people with dual diagnoses, including mental health issues
- Understanding of logistical, ethical and human rights issues affecting people with disability
- Understanding of current best practice in positive behaviour programming and complex behaviour support
